A perfect beach day at Ballina

Ballina is, without a doubt, one of the best spots along the east coast of Australia.

And no, I’m not just biased because I grew up on the Northern Rivers.

Well, maybe a little, but hear me out.

My opinion of this gorgeous, coastside town must have some weight to it, as every year people come from all over to holiday here, while seniors in their thousands have set up permanent camp here in their retirement.

It’s a pretty nice place, let’s just say that.

Eat the Street food festival, Lismore

This is the first post in my series on the Northern Rivers, my home region.

One the best things about Lismore, the regional centre of the area I live in, is probably it’s wide range of food on offer.

From Japanese, to Mexican, Indian, Thai, Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, fine dining, or a good old pub meal – you can find it all in Lismore

The small city is overflowing with restaurants, and has an epic cafe culture which leaves you with an overwhelming amount of choice for your Sunday morning brunch.

That’s why it’s only appropriate that one of the biggest events of the year in Lismore is the Eat the Street festival.

A trip to the happiest place on Earth! Disneyland Hong Kong

I can show you the world,

Shining, shimmering, splendid,

Tell me princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?

I can open your eyes,

What fun it was then, when I got the chance to indulge my inner child (Basically still 25-year-old me anyway) with a visit to Disneyland Hong Kong!

Stunning sights of Lantau Island and the Big Buddha

Apart from the city sights of Hong Kong, which are not to be missed, there is also a part of Hong Kong that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of the massive metropolis.

To the northwest of the main part of Hong Kong (Hong Kong Island and Kowloon), lies Lantau Island.

Many people know Lantau Island as the home of Disneyland Hong Kong, but there are some other attractions of the Island too – namely, the Cable Car and Big Buddha.

One day in Macau

As Macau is so easily accessible from Hong Kong, it’s often on the list of ‘things to do’ for many travellers.

I’d heard all these stories about the beautiful old buildings and structures in this city which feels like a throwback to colonial times, and so I thought I must visit too.

I’m going to be honest: I ended up feeling neither here or there on the topic.

Yes, some of the buildings in Macau were pretty, and I got to see some historic landmarks, but apart from that we just walked around in the stifling heat.

I guess if we were into Casinos and high-end shopping we might have been more taken with Macau, but I kind of left feeling like the day could have been better spent.
