One Day in Uruguay

My dream car.
My dream car.

With an extra day in Buenos Aires, it was suggested that we could maybe, you know, just pop over to Uruguay for the day.

It’s a popular, short, cheap trip – and you get to tick a new country off your list, explore a new atmosphere, and enjoy a day out while you’re at it.

You can easily take the Buquebus ferry from Buenos Aires across to Colonia del Sacramento, one of the oldest towns in Uruguay.

There are two ferry options: An express ferry which takes 1 hour, or a cheaper ferry which takes 3 hours.

Once you’re there, you can get a tour as part of the ferry package, and explore the historic sights of Colonia.

Then spend some relaxing time walking around the cobblestone streets, sit by the water, or climb up the lighthouse.

It’s a pretty chill little town, with lots of lovely, intimate restaurants to choose from for lunch.

Just, whatever you do, don’t miss the ferry back to Argentina – you don’t want to get stuck in Colonia – it’s a pretty small town and I doubt there would be many places to stay for a few days.
